Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 16 October 2026.

1. Who I am

lessonlocal is run by me, Ruth Varda Shemtov, a Hebrew tutor registered in Israel as an exempt dealer (Osek Patur).
Address: 50 Nahmani St., Tel Aviv, Israel
Email: info@lessonlocal.com

By creating an account, booking a lesson or making a payment on this site, you agree to these terms.

2. The lessons

  • All lessons are private, one-to-one and online, on Google Meet.
  • A regular lesson is 50 minutes. The trial lesson is 25 minutes and free of charge.
  • The Google Meet link is sent to you when you book.
  • Each lesson takes place at the date and time you booked. Lesson packs are valid for 3 months (5 lessons) or 6 months (10 lessons) from the date of purchase.

3. Prices and payment

  • Prices are listed on the Plans page in Israeli shekels (₪). If you pay from abroad, your card provider converts the amount.
  • Payment is taken when you book a single lesson or buy a pack.
  • Payments are made by credit or debit card on a secure payment page operated by Grow (formerly Meshulam), an Israeli payment provider, through the Morning (Green Invoice) billing system. You enter your card details directly on that page. I never see or store them.
  • A receipt is emailed to you automatically after every payment.

4. Rescheduling and cancelling a lesson

  • You can reschedule or cancel a lesson free of charge up to 24 hours before it starts. If it is a single lesson, you get a full refund. If it is part of a pack, the lesson goes back to your pack.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the lesson, or do not show up, the lesson counts as taken. It is charged in full, or deducted from your pack.

5. If I need to cancel a lesson

  • If I need to cancel or move a lesson, I will let you know as early as I can.
  • You can then choose what you prefer: a full refund for that lesson, or a new time for it.
  • If you choose a new time and it is close to the end of your pack’s validity, the new time can also be after the expiry date.

6. Lesson packs

  • A 5-lesson pack is valid for 3 months from the date of purchase.
  • A 10-lesson pack is valid for 6 months from the date of purchase.
  • Lessons not used within that time expire.

7. Cancelling a lesson pack

Under the Israeli Consumer Protection Law, you may cancel the purchase of a whole lesson pack within 14 days of the purchase, or of receiving the purchase details, whichever is later.

  • You pay only for the lessons you have already received, at the pack price per lesson (₪182 in a 5-lesson pack, ₪156 in a 10-lesson pack). For example, if you bought a 5-lesson pack for ₪910 and had 2 lessons, you get back ₪546, less any cancellation fee.
  • I may charge a cancellation fee of up to 5% of the price or ₪100, whichever is lower.
  • To cancel a purchase, email me at info@lessonlocal.com.

For single lessons, see section 4 above.

8. Students under 18

You must be 18 or older to buy lessons on this site. Students under 18 need a parent or guardian to create the account, book lessons and pay. The parent or guardian accepts these terms on the student’s behalf.

9. Your account

You can sign in with your email and password, or with your Google account. Please keep your login details private. Your account is for your own use only.

10. Your privacy

  • I use your details only to run your lessons, send you booking emails and issue receipts.
  • I don’t sell your details or share them, except with the services that run the site (booking, payment and invoicing).
  • Your details are kept on secure servers, and I take reasonable steps to protect them. Card details are entered on Grow’s secure page and I never see or store them.
  • For full details, see the Privacy Policy.

11. Responsibility and liability

  • I teach every lesson with care. However, I and anyone acting on my behalf will not be responsible for any direct or indirect damage caused by using the lessons, the learning materials or any service bought on this site.
  • The lessons, the learning materials and any information on this site or shared during lessons are for language learning only. They are not professional advice of any kind (for example legal, immigration or medical advice), and any use of this information is your own responsibility.
  • I am not responsible for problems caused by your internet connection, your device or third-party services such as Google Meet.
  • If a lesson cannot take place because of a problem on my side, I will reschedule it or refund it.

12. Changes to these terms

I may update these terms from time to time. Changes will not affect lessons or packs you have already paid for.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel. Any dispute will be heard exclusively by the competent courts in Tel Aviv-Jaffa.
